If there is one thing you can say about Deadfall, it keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie. And you get to see Charlie Hunnam without the beard and long hair from Son’s of Anarchy as well.
The movie opens with Addison and Liz and their partner driving down the road after they robbed a casino. One of the tires explodes and the car crashes on the side of the woods.
Addison and Liz manage to get out of the car but their partner is dead. If that isn’t enough, a policeman spots them and offers help, only to be shot by Addison as he says forgive me.
The two decide to separate and meet up at a different destination. Liza somehow manages to run into Jay, who is played by Charlie Hunam. He just got out of jail for murder when he nearly kills his trainer at the gym because he found out that he was the one behind the murder.
Addison, played by Eric Bana, is a brutal killer. He probably brings the most tension to the movie since you’re never going to know what he is going to do next. The tension would only grow when everyone somehow meets up at Jay’s house for thanksgiving.
It’s hard to say what kind of plot was done here. Much of the story is character driven, as people will wonder what Addison will do next. In addition, it just seems difficult for me to believe that Jay and Liza would fall in love only after spending just a few hours together.
All in all, I enjoyed Deadfall and was happy to see a good cast that included Kris Kristofferson and Sissy Spacek. Treat Williams also makes an appearance as the sheriff in the movie as well.
It’s hard for me to give this movie more than 4 stars. Not much of a plot but there is a lot of suspense and an ending that would probably be predictable.
